Disciple Of Christ Garage is a non-profit organization that provides free or reduced car repairs to those in need. Our team of experienced mechanics is dedicated to helping those who may not have the means to afford necessary car repairs. We believe that everyone should have access to safe and reliable transportation, and we are committed to making that a reality for our community.We are proud to offer a range of services to our clients, including engine repair, brake service, and transmission repair. Our Story

 

In the beginning, there was a man named Daniel Baker.  Fresh out of prison, he was working his twelve steps. While on his ninth step, God spoke to him and told Daniel to right his wrongs.  On one of the occasions God spoke about was when Daniel stole his ex-wife’s vehicle and drove it all the way to Alabama to buy meth. The car broke down before he made it back home, of course this was back before Daniel knew Christ, so Daniel had to go down and pick it up from Alabama after it sat for two years to fix it up and give it back to his ex-wife. The day that the vehicle was given back was March 1st, 2021. Daniel didn’t know that this was the start of something much bigger. People had seen how bad the vehicle was before he fixed it and started bringing their own vehicles to have Daniel fix.

 

In addiction, Daniel had the love of money in his heart. As he began to fix vehicles, people started paying him for his work. As a way of repentance, Daniel began to take those funds and give them back through mechanics. As things progressively began to get busier, the Lord spoke to Daniel and told him to get organized.  God gave him a list of names, some of which he did not know. On that list was Jerald Greentree, Andrew Norris, and John Meeks. All of which would become the future board members of the organization. Daniel met with each person individually and each person was on board.  After meeting with each person, they collaborated and had a group meeting.  From that day on, the men worked towards starting the organization Disciple of Christ Garage.  

 

At the beginning of this ministry, it was about hauling around tools, meeting people exactly where they sit come rain, shine, or snow, praying with them, and fixing their vehicles. It wasn’t long before an overall theme had started to show in the ministry, people were hurt and broken needing not only their vehicles fixed but they were searching for something more.  Momentum continued to build, and it wasn’t long before a space was needed to work on vehicles.  Searching for a space, the ministry sought grants, but they were denied multiple times. A lift had been donated from a local shop, but with no place to store it, it was a sign that God was promising a location. As the ministry continued to search for a location, Daniel felt leading to get connected with Born Church.  

 

Daniel called a meeting with Chuck Vernon, the pastor and leader of Born church. Through the meeting it was discovered that there was a divine calling to be connected and to join ministry together as Born Church had the space necessary for the garage. Almost 2 years after the ministry started the lift was put in. Now today the ministry has changed so much as it has grown. People can pay to have their vehicles fixed trusting that the money they pay for fixing their vehicles will go to help those in need. Many parts have been donated to people who have been in desperate need of vehicle repairs. Today people can volunteer there time to help those in need on their vehicle repairs, donate money to help those in need, donate a vehicle that can be fixed up and given to a worthy cause, pay to have there vehicles fixed, and apply for financial help on getting there vehicles repaired.
